Kulinaria - Science and Environment
Większość kucharzy w Polsce zdobywa ten zawód dzięki nauce w jednej z licznych szkół gastronomicznych - zawodowych lub techników. Ale kucharskie specjalności pojawiły się także w niektórych niepaństwowych szkołach wyższych, głównie hotelarsko-gastronomicznych. Współczesny kucharz nie powinien zaniedbać edukacji i, jeśli to możliwe, zdobyć wyższe wykształcenie.
Początki w tym zawodzie i w nauce bywają czasem trudne, zwłaszcza na zajęciach praktycznych. Uczniowie skupiają się nie tylko na poznawaniu teoretycznych zagadnień technologii gastronomicznej, ale i na ćwiczeniu fantazji. W technikach gastronomicznych już bowiem wiedzą, że to niezbędna cecha współczesnych kucharzy.
Od kilkunastu lat sztuka kulinarna wraca do łask, a wraz z nią także zawód kucharza. Posada kucharza w porządnej restauracji to dziś marzenie niejednego młodego człowieka. To oni kreują dziś renomę restauracji i to dla nich - a nie do samego lokalu - przychodzą klienci. Dla najlepszych szefów kuchni oznacza to niezłe wynagrodzenie i przede wszystkim satysfakcję. Coraz częściej kucharze uczestniczą też w konkursach, wyjeżdżają za granicę i prowadzą bardzo interesujące życie.
